This template is designed to be used with Latwy, a service that connects to your financial accounts and automatically pushes account and transaction data to Notion. Here are some tips for how to make the most of it.
- The Master Databases are required for Latwy to function. If you change the names of any of the databases, the names of any existing properties, or the types of existing properties, Latwy may cease to function.
- You can, however, add additional properties to the Master Databases to suit your needs. This could include formulas to calculate additional data.
- Transaction amounts can be positive or negative. Positive means money leaving an account, while negative means money entering an account. For a credit card account, positive is a purchase and negative is a payment. For a checking account, positive is a transfer out and negative is a transfer in.
- You’ll notice that the charts on the main page that track spending have a filter that specifies transaction amounts above 0. This eliminates deposits and credit card payments to show you only actual spending.
- You can customize the charts and tables on the main page, or add new charts, tables, and views that connect to the Master Databases. The main page is a starting point that lets you see the power of Latwy right away.
- This template will initially be empty, with no data in any of the databases. Latwy will automatically populate all of the tables with transaction, account, balance, category, subcategory, and account type data information.
- Transactions are automatically categorized, with each having a category and subcategory. Once a transaction is in a posted state, you can change those categories and subcategories to your liking. Transactions in a pending state will generally be updated by Latwy once they switch to a posted state, overwriting any of your changes.
- Historical balances for each account are calculated in Notion using the current balance and past transactions. In some cases, the current balance will be updated before the most recent transactions are available, resulting in incorrect historical balances. This will be corrected once those transactions are synced.
- Due to the way balances work, there may be duplicate balance entries for a specific date and account. This is is something to be aware of if you’re creating views that reference the Balances database.
